There was a time I feel inferior in front of a foreigner.
It's only natural I think, especially the fact that I knew a little English that time.

Today I feel more confident.
Why is it that we feel that way?

The Philippines is conquered by the Spanish some 486 years ago (1521) .
It is said that pilipinos are easily conquered because there's not enough force for defense.

Today pilipinos are still conquered, not only by the Spanish but also by Americans, Japanese, Taiwanese ...
Not by force but by mind.

The term used to describe this is Colonial mentality.

Here is a country dominated by imported good, foreign language and has a tongue for foreign food.

There's no country like the Philippines that adore outside influence.

Think about it:
The Philippines is a country that buys more imported products than any other place in the world. There was a time that the marikina shoe industry is sweep by imported cheap shoes. if you sell shoes Labeled USA made that shoes will be more likely to sale than shoes Labeled made in the Philippines. Some manufacturer intentionally labeled there product USA made. OFW returning from a foreign country buy a shoes there and was later discovered that its made in the Philippines. On contrary, a shoe made in the USA is not actually made in the USA, it's made in china.
