Let me ask you a question,
"How much is the minimum wage for a house helper? "
The standard wage for a helper is way down the minimum wage it's around $40 a
month about 2,000 pesos some house helper accept 1,500 pesos a month.
But what I mean is the legal minimum wage for a house helper.
The more I analyze the more question arouse:
What are the working conditions?
How many hours is the work?
How many days,
Is there a bonus?
Health benefit
Insurance
Upon thinking about this I ask somebody for the details and am puzzled on the respond.
No health benefit
No insurance
No day off
No bonus
16 hours of work or more
And the work is all around, laundry, cook, nanny, clean the house, everything.
All of it is for 2,000- pesos
If your going to divide that for a days work that's 2,000- pesos divide 30 days its about 66 pesos
per day.
A kilo of rice now is 32 pesos. You only have now 34 pesos for other expenses.
How hard can it be?
As I think about this, am puzzled. Who will accept this kind of work in that salary?
I ask the person who give me the details for and the answer is very simple.
It's better than no job at all.
Salary Update
Today the government of president macapagal arroyo approved the salary increase for a government employee, it's a handsome amount, and the increase will be distributed within 4 years up to 2012.
It's been a while that the government employee salary have increase.
Now that its increase, still there's a negative comment.
Comparing to a house helpers salary, the government employee salary is higher with added benefits.
